OVERVIEW
Indigo dye is breathtaking – experience the magic as the fabric changes from lime green to indigo blue before your eyes.
Shibori is the ancient Japanese form of dyeing that revolves around different ways of binding and folding fabric to create different patterns (also known as tie dye), and is most commonly practiced with indigo.
In this one day workshop you will make a variety of shibori samples exploring the different variety of patterns. The fabric samples are large enough to be used as Furoshiki (Japanese wrapping cloth) which are both beautiful and functional, or you can incorporate them into your sewing projects.
You will learn:
- how to set up an indigo dye bath
- different shibori techniques, including itajime (folded and bound) and tesuji shibori (pleated and bound) and arashi shibori (pole wrapped).
- How to prepare your fabric to get the best results
This workshop is perfect for all ages and experience levels.
After taking the course you will have the ability to create beautiful shibori dyed fabric on your own,
and have the knowledge to set up a fail-proof indigo dye vat at home.

Needle and thread
Pencil
Pen and paper for making notes
