Professional Membership - requires peer assessment. Required to sell at the PEICC Retail Gallery and the Christmas Craft Fair.
Wholesale Membership - no membership fee and no assessment required to attend the PEI Craft Trade Show to sell your craft to other Maritime gift shops. See more info here.
General Membership - friends of the PEICC.
Student Memberships - student enrolled full/part time in school.
Prior to submitting your work for the Professional Peer Assessment (Jury), take a moment to consider the following:
I am a permanent resident of Prince Edward Island (I have a PEI Health card).
I am currently producing the craft I want to sell.
I am the producer of the craft.
The craft I make is produced on PEI.
I want to sell at the PEI Crafts Council Retail Gallery.
I want to sell at the Christmas Craft Fair.
I have sold my craft at fairs or markets.
I am a professional crafter, not a hobby crafter.
Things we look for when assessing your product:
High quality materials - understanding the materials and using them properly
Improvement - improving and refining your work over time.
High quality workmanship
Technique and Skill level
Materials and Care instructions attached to the piece
Attention to details
Consistency in production
Aesthetic sense - color form and appeal of the work.
Authenticity of the craft. (your personal touch)

New Applicants
Applicants to the Craft Professional Membership must complete the Jurying Process. All work submitted must be made by the Applicant, must have been produced within the last 12 months (exceptions apply for large pieces like quilts, rug hooking etc) and must be representative of the work you intend to sell at Council sponsored fairs/events. For more information on this process, please review the Standards Booklet and the Jury Application Form printable and submit with product.

You must first read the standards for your medium and the general standards as they apply.

Items*** (3 items of each medium you are currently working in, which you would like juried) Please be selective and bring your best items. Do not bring extra items, they will not be juried.
***We are no longer juring Fine Art. Fine art includes, painting, ink, mixed media, photography, digital art.drop off dates - April 21-28th* for the May 1st Jury
drop off dates - September 21-28th* for the October 1st Jury*Items will not be accepted before or after those dates. Drop off is subject to current Office/Gallery hours. No exceptions.
You may pay the Jury payment in store when dropping off your 3 items ($23).
***Fine Art Submissions
We are currently not accepting new Fine Artists for the Retail Gallery. If you are interested in selling at the PEICC Christmas Craft Fair as a Fine Artist, please contact the peicraftscouncil@gmail.com for details.
Frequently Asked Questions
When does product assessment (jurying) take place?
Craft is juried twice a year May 1 and October 1.
We are currently not accepting Fine Art for jury.
On what basis are the products assessed?
Originality of design and/or execution of traditional design (40 points), Understanding of material & suitability for the design; form & function (20 points), Quality of workmanship (40 points) . *See the Standards Guidelines document for more detailed descriptions.
What is a passing grade?
Applicants must receive a minimum of 65 points for each item to pass.
What if I do not receive 65 points?
Applicants are encouraged to work with mentors to address any weak areas in the products and to re-apply at a later date.
Is the process confidential?
Yes.
Do I receive a copy of my product assessment?
Yes. The process is transparent and is designed to encourage and assist crafts people.
Who can help me with my application?
Mentoring services are available, contact the PEICC.
Can I participate in the Christmas Craft Fair?
Successful applicants who purchase a membership may participate in the Christmas Craft Fair held each November and sell product from the medium they were juried in.
Can I sell at the PEI Crafts Council Retail Gallery?
Successful applicants who purchase a membership may inquire to sell product at the Retail Gallery. You must have completed a successful jury for the product you wish to sell. You may not bring other products from different mediums to sell that you have not been juried in.
What other events can I participate in?
Successful applicants may apply to participate in Craft Fairs run by other provincial Craft Councils.

A volunteer committee that has been selected on the basis of their relevant expertise in the craft sector
