Craft Alliance has been collecting loss estimates from across our region to build a picture of the potential impact of COVID-19 on craft makers and craft retailers in Atlantic Canada. The results of this survey show an estimated $56.5 million overall impact on the craft industry in 2020 – approximately $17.8 million in losses for craft producers, and $38.7 million in lost income for craft retailers.

March 18, 2020: Hi Everyone, we are doing our best to keep you all informed of what you need to do during these times of extreme measures in response to COVID-19 virus. We would encourage you to track losses of revenue as this progresses. We are attaching two documents developed by Craft Alliance to assist craft producers and organizations, shops and retail galleries track their losses . This information should be forwarded to crafts alliance in the next couple of weeks to help them compile information in their efforts to lobby for financial relief for the craft sector in our region. As for the link for self employed people, please be aware that this initial fund is only for lost income this week and next. Most craftspeople will probably not have incurred any significant loss during this time period - but will most likely have substantial losses if this situation continues into the tourism season, cruise ship season etc .
